Robin Hood Month in the City

Nottingham gave Robin Hood the welcome home he deserved when he returned to the silver screen this May by declaring May Robin Hood Month in the City.

An exciting programme of major events turned back the clock in Nottingham and the wider county, and with something happening every day, the City was transformed into a mediaeval kingdom. Highlights included:

  • Mediaeval re-enactments
  • Jousting
  • Archery
  • May Day parade led by Robin Hood
  • Family fun days
  • Mediaeval Market

The jousting shows at Nottingham Castle on 1 & 2 May attracted nearly 2000 people. They were entertained by the Knights of Nottingham who demonstrated their excellent jousting and combat skills in four spectacular shows over the two days.

On the 8 & 23 May Nottingham Castle played host to the Mediaeval Family Fun Days which included archery, tug-of-war and falconry, all of which were enjoyed by nearly 2500 visitors.

The Robin Hood Month grand finale was a re-enactment weekend from 29 - 31 May at Nottingham Castle. The 6000 visitors over the weekend enjoyed combat demonstration , living history as well as music and traditional crafts.
