Vernon Park

A large neighbourhood park that has seen considerable investment in recent years including a new pavilion with a community room, a high quality football pitch, floodlit tennis courts, public toilets, increased on site parking and new Children's Play Area as part of the Play Pathfinder scheme.

Vernon Park BoardwalkVernon Park in Basford is a picturesque neighbourhood park which has recently undergone a £1 million refurbishment.

A large neighbourhood park that has seen considerable investment in recent years including a new pavilion with a community room, a high quality football pitch, floodlit tennis courts, public toilets, increased on site parking and new Children's Play Area as part of the Play Pathfinder scheme. The pond area backs on Basford Library and is very popular with anglers, walkers and wildlife watchers. Recently the pond has had considerable investment with new fishing platforms, boardwalk, platform for teaching angling, and works to reinforce the banks. There are more proposals planned for the pond which include; additional planting, water feature and interpretation.

Site Management

The majority of the site maintenance is carried out by the Horticultural Service and Park Ranger team.

Friends Group

Tennis

Events

 Small scale family events are  organised by the Park Rangers. It is hoped that the Friends Group will also assist in hosting events on Vernon Park.

Educational and Activities

With the expansion of the Ranger Service in 2009 and the new education pack, there will be increased opportunities for local schools to undertake educational activities on site. For more information please see the Park Rangers web page.

Directions

Vernon Park has a number of entrances. One of the main pedestrian entrances is on Vernon Road, next to Basford Library. The vehicle entrance is on Vernon Avenue, Basford, Nottingham NG6 0AP.
