Disability Equality Scheme

The Disability Discrimination Act 2005 required all public authorities, including secondary schools, to produce and publish a Disability Equality Scheme by 4 December 2006.

The purpose of this duty is to ensure that disability equality is practiced by everyone in and working with schools i.e. equality of opportunity and good relations between different groups is promoted and that discrimination is tackled appropriately.

This page contains useful resources for schools to help them develop their own DES.
