The Current Nottingham Local Plan

The Nottingham Local Plan (adopted November 2005) is the current Statutory Local Plan for the City of Nottingham and provides the basis for decisions related to land use planning.

News from Nottingham Section HP

The Nottingham Local Plan was produced as part of the old planning system and will be 'saved' until it is replaced by the emerging Local Development Framework.

  • Adopted by Nottingham City Council on 28th November 2005.

  • Proposals Maps are available separately at a price of £15.00 plus £1.00 postage and packaging.

Updated Sites of Interest for Nature Conservation:

  • Sites of Interest for Nature Conservation (SINCs) are determined independently of the Local Plan.
  • Identified by the Nottingham Biological and Geological Records Centre (NBGRC) using criteria set by an independent panel of experts (the SINC Panel).
  • Data is collected from museum field surveyors and local and national expert naturalists and the designation is made by the SINC Panel.
  • The Nottingham Local Plan Proposals Map shows the Biological and Geological SINCs as identified at the time of the Revised Deposit Draft of the Nottingham Local Plan Review (Jan 2003) which formed the basis for the public inquiry, consideration by the Planning Inspector and adoption by the City Council.
  • Since then a significant review of the SINCs in Nottingham City has taken place, superseding some of the information shown on the Proposals Map.
  • As the designation of SINCs is not related to the timescale of the planning process, and as the Local Plan Proposals Map cannot be updated, there is a need to separately identify the current extent of SINCs within Nottingham City.
  • The City Council's online mapping system (NOMAD), displays the most up-to-date representation of the SINCs in Nottingham and the date these were last updated.  Click here to link to NOMAD

Adopted Proposals Map

  • The Proposals Map identifies areas of protection and locations and sites to which particular land use and development proposals and policies apply.

Addendum to the Nottingham Local Plan:

  • Since the publication of the Local Plan it has been identified that there was an error on the Proposals Map South Sheet.
  • The boundary of the Sneinton Conservation Area as shown on the Proposals Map South Sheet is incorrect.
  • The true boundary of the Sneinton Conservation Area is as shown on the addendum to the right, which should be read in conjunction with the Local Plan.
