Background information to our 50p activities

Nottingham City Council is offering fun activities for 8 - 15 year olds at participating leisure centres for just 50p a day during the school holidays!

Fifty pence WOYS 2The overall aim of these school holiday activities, which have been funded by One Nottingham (the local strategic partnership) is to provide a range of affordable and accessible sport, leisure and physical activity opportunities to children and young people, which are engaging, motivational and fun.

This will:

  • keep children occupied, fit and active (helping to tackle childhood obesity) during the summer months
  • provide a safe and interactive environment for children and young people to develop confidence and social skills whilst having fun together
  • enable young people with interest and/or talent to progress into club and community-based provision and activity
  • help parents in the economic downturn (as activities are FREE or low cost and many are available between 9am and 5pm), helping those who are working or seeking work
  • support the Council's targets around: healthy lifestyles, satisfaction with neighbourhoods, parks and community safety activity, reducing anti-social behaviour

Nottingham City Council is working in partnership with a number of organisations, including Notts County, Nottingham Forest, Nottingham County Cricket Club and the voluntary sector.
