Arnold Wesker’s Roots

Director: Andrew Breakwell 1959. Norfolk. Beatie Bryant returns home after three years in London. She has fallen in love with Ronnie and passionately believes she has escaped her rural roots through the love and education of a good man. As her family anticipate Ronnie’s arrival, Beatie talks about London and her new-found ideals, but they are Ronnie’s words, not hers. Will she ever find her own voice?
