Projects
There are a range of extended school projects taking place within the Ellis Guilford Education Improvement Partnership.
Music: Area Band/Music School – based at Ellis Guilford School and Sports College
The Basford Area Band is run by the Nottingham City Council Music Development Service every Tuesday term time only, from 3.45-5pm for Years 5 and above. Transport to and from schools within the Ellis Guilford Education Improvement Partnership is funded through the Ellis Guilford EIP Extended Schools team. In addition teaching assistants from each school support the children who attend.

The Area Band acts as a helpful stepping stone to the Nottingham Music School which runs on Saturday mornings at Ellis Guilford School and Sports College, also run by College Street. City children can attend at low cost and experience a range of ensemble, singing and world music opportunities, including many performances through the year and a chance to go 'on tour'. For further information about Music School - click here to visit the Nottingham Music School website.
Sports Academy – Based at Ellis Guilford School and Sports College
The multi-skills sports academy targets a different year group each term for all of the primary schools within the EIP. A small number of boys and girls are identified by each school link to attend a weekly programme which offers and promotes fun and sports skills building. This experience develops the competence and confidence of the children attending and links are made to local sports clubs wherever possible. Each academy finishes with a celebration session.

Dance
From the results of consultation carried out throughout the EIP a demand for after school dance sessions was identified. It was agreed that we should support all schools to develop high quality dance opportunities into their varied menu of activities. Contact schools for details of all after-school activity.
2008 Sunday Fun Day
A community day was held on Sunday 21st September 2008 at Ellis Guilford School and Sports College which was a huge success and provided a range of activities to promote and raise awareness of existing extended services. Over 1000 adults and children enjoyed all that the school and community had to offer and shared their thoughts about how extended services should develop in our localities.
Parent Support Workers
Primary schools within the Ellis Guilford EIP now have Parent Support Workers (PSWs)who provide the link between parents and school. These workers help support a range of family learning and adult education programmes to offer parents support and new opportunities for themselves as well as increasing parents' links with what is happening in schools. PSWs also have copies of our recently published Services Directory which all families connected to EIP schools should have received. Contact school receptions to find out details.
All our schools have good links with local children's centres and these offer a range of activities and support for children and families.
