Disability Sport
We offer inclusive opportunities to citizens with a disability and additional needs.
This includes both dedicated and inclusive sport and physical activity at local leisure centres, as well as working with partner organisations to offer specific projects in the city, such as the Ability Nottingham Inclusion Project.
What we offer
- Disability specific sports events and projects within the City
- Disability Awareness training for coaches/leaders and leisure centre staff
- More access to physical activity opportunities in Nottingham City improving physical and social health and wellbeing
- More opportunities to participate in activities benefiting from support from Inclusion Support Buddies to access inclusive mainstream or dedicated activities.
- The opportunity to improve confidence and self esteem through participation, volunteering and leadership
- Better signposting and support to access physical activity and sports opportunities, helping to improve quality of family life.

Nottingham City Council Leisure Centres
Nottingham City Council has nine leisure centres with an excellent range of quality and accessible facilities for disabled customers and families, and a commitment to continuously improving the accessibility both in and around its leisure centres to ensure they meet the needs of all customers.

Ability Nottingham Inclusion Project
Ability Nottingham is a 3 year project funded by Reaching Communities, Big Lottery fund. The project is managed in partnership by Oak Field School and Sports College and Nottingham City Council.
Ability Nottingham aims to inspire, motivate and engage more people aged 3 to 19 years with a disability into sport and physical activity within Nottingham City.
We provide a dedicated team of Inclusion Support Buddies who can work on a one-to-one basis with individuals or in a small group to help young people enjoy sport and physical activities during school holidays and term time.
Additional support is available for mainstream and dedicated activities held in the leisure centres as well as a range of community clubs based at Oak Field School and Sports College.
Activities include: Nottingham Swim School (swimming lessons), sports clubs, Notts Tots and sports specific coaching.

Ability Nottingham Adults
Ability Nottingham Adults aims to inspire, motivate and engage Nottingham City residents aged 20+ with a disability into physical activity and sport within Nottingham.
Ability Nottingham Adults will enable you to:
- Receive one to one or small group inclusion buddy support for up to eight hours of activity.
- Try new sports and socialise.
- Improve confidence and self esteem through participation and fitness.
