Talented Young Athlete Support Fund

Nottingham City Council can offer financial support to help talented young athletes.

What is the Talented Young Athlete Support Fund?

This fund is able to offer financial support to talented young athletes who live in Nottingham city boundaries who are competing at a county level or above.

 Eligibility

  • Applicants must live within Nottingham city local authority boundaries 
  • Open to juniors and adults 
  • Applicants must be in a representative squad of at least county level or competing in at least regional championships
  • Students can apply for funding, but not for any BUSA/student competitions (including schools) or representative squads 
  • Sports listed within Sport England definitions are eligible for funding (to check these visit the  Sport England website and search for 'recognised sports')
  • Only travel costs, accommodation associated with major competitions, competition entry fees and representative training costs are eligible
  • Travel/membership costs to regular club/sub-county training is not eligible 
  • Personal equipment is not eligible
  • Applicants must demonstrate how funding will contribute to achieving higher levels of sporting performance

What else do I need to know?

  • Applicants can re-apply after 12 months of receiving grant funding 
  • Maximum amount per applicant, per annum are as follows:

County (= competing for the county team), up to £100 per annum
Regional (= competing for the regional team), up to £200 per annum
National (= competing for their country or Great Britain), up to £500 per annum
