Local Transport Plan 3: 2011 - 2026

Nottingham Local Transport Plan

Cycling, walking and public rights of way

Nottingham City Council have introduced the third Local Transport Plan (LTP) which is a statutory document that aims to address transport challenges facing the City of Nottingham from 2011 - 2026.

With plans to transform our railway station into a transport hub, an extended world class tram system, and a fantastic bus network that has two award winning bus operators, Nottingham is one of the leading cities in the UK for public transport.

The Campaign for Better Transport ranked Nottingham as the least car dependent city in the UK, and for the second year running Nottingham City Council has been named Bus Authority of the Year at the 2010 UK Bus Awards.

Public transport is important to us as it affects our everyday life, and with a likely future increase in demand, we need to plan ahead. Although funding is limited at the moment, it is essential we continue to invest in our public transport system if our economy is to continue to grow and we are to do more to improve the environment.

The LTP has been developed to comprise of two component documents:

In addition an air quality action plan was produced in July 2010 and will be updated as part of the annual air quality management progress reports which can be downloaded from the Download section on the top right.

LTP Integrated Impact Assessment
As part of the development of the Local Transport Plan, the City Council has conducted an Integrated Impact Assessment of the Plan. The report for the Integrated Impact Assessment and Environmental Statement is also available for download. To read the report  please see our dedicated webpage Integrated Impact Assessment
