Home Library Service
Would you like your favourite books delivered to your door? We offer a free Home Library Service including a service to members of the Asian community provided by Asian language speaking volunteers.
You may be eligible for this service if you do not have anyone who can visit a library on your behalf and you are unable to get to your local library because of mobility problems, disability, frailty or ill health.
Carers who are unable to use their local library owing to personal circumstances, may also be eligible for this service.

How does it work?
A friendly member of library staff or a WRVS volunteer will visit you to discuss your reading needs. You can request specific items or titles that will be delivered to your home on a pre-arranged regular rota.
All library staff and volunteers have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and they all carry identification so you can be confident they are genuine.
The Home Library Service is run by a partnership of the Nottingham City Council Library and Information Service and WRVS

Can you volunteer for the home library service?
We are always interested in recruiting new volunteers to help deliver this service. We need:
- Friendly volunteers who can collect books from the library and deliver to customers' homes
- A minimum commitment of one duty per month
- People who can speak one or more Asian languages (for the Asian Home Library Service)
Full training is provided and travel expenses reimbursed. This is a rewarding and great way to get involved in your community and meet new people.

WRVS is an organisation which helps thousands of older people get more out of life by providing practical help in their homes, in hospitals and in the community. As part of this, WRVS works in partnership with many library services throughout the country delivering books. It is one of the largest voluntary organisations supporting local communities in England, Scotland and Wales. Much of their work is with older people and those affected by disaster. They provide practical solutions to the everyday problems of loneliness and isolation. Their volunteers come from all walks of life.
